Default Australian cattle dog aggressive to dogs and bikers

Hello,
Anyone own an Australian cattle dog who may help me? I got mine from a shelter. It look like a nice dog but will lunge and bark aggressively at dogs, joggers and bikers etc. I tried many things and still don't have a solution. Thanks for any suggestions.

Donald

Please keep your dog on the leash. My dog was attacked twice in parks while we were running by Australian cattle dogs. The other dogs were not leashed; mine was. On both occasions, the dogs held onto my dog with their teeth until their male owners came and pulled them away. I assume it is instinct but my dog ended up with a gash below her eye on one occasion and a huge hole in her inner thigh that required stitches on another occasion. After that, she didn't trust other dogs or men in public and I don't trust Australian cattle dogs.

Hi there,
Caribou, I'm sorry to hear that your dog got attacked by Australian Cattle Dogs.
Of course it is traumatic to see your dog being attacked, especially if that results in your dog being scared of dogs and men after that. However, I know some lovely Australian Cattle dogs and I think it's important not to generalize them all.
Donald, if you dog has a behavioral problem than it is important to make sure that no one is unsafe because of it, including your dog himself.

Lunging and barking at other dogs and people when outside is a common problem and with patience and persistence it's possible to fix.
In most cases dogs display aggression due to fear. Donald, do you know much about the history of your dog? How long have you had him for?
How does he behave at home?
What about when people come to visit you?
How old is he/she? Is he/she fixed?
Does your dog live inside or outside.

Thanks

And I appreciate LetPlay's comments. And to answer the questions:
History of your dog? It's from a military family;lived in apartment. Did not go to any dog training school.
How long have you had him for? 7 months
How does he behave at home? Not bad except like to jump at people.
What about when people come to visit you? Bark very loud and aggresive.
How old is he? 2.5 years
Is he fixed? yes, neutered by previous owner.
Does your dog live inside or outside? It live indoor.
I am hoping for any kind suggestions to help ease this dog's aggressivenes. Thank you.
