Default Dogs on couch

How do I train to keep my dog off the couch without simply keeping the cushions up. Unfortunately, when the cushions are down I know he is up there because of the hair, but I never "catch" him up there...Any thoughts?

Hey, thanks for the query, hopefully I can help.
I think the best idea is to shut your dog out of the room when you're not able to be in the room with him to supervise. when you are in the room with him, if he tries to get up on the couch firmly say "NO!" and if he stops from getting up on the couch then praise him with treats or pats. Try this out and let me know how you go,

Good luck,

Becks
