Default Barking at people on walks

My min-pen mix has been going for walks since she was a baby, she is now 1 yr old, but recently she has been barking and growling at strangers who are walking far away on the path. I have tried to give her a command such as sit, pick her up, or turn and walk the other way, none seem to work. Any ideas?

When your dog starts to growl, pull on the lead sharply and say "NO!". If she responds to this by being quite, if only for a second, then reward her with pats or treats. Be very consistent with this, do the same thing every single time. SOon she will understand that the barking is the wrong action and that if she is quite she gets rewarded.

Good luck,

Becks
