GSD(s) just won't listen

Hi Everyone

My two 18 mo old German Shepard's just won't listen, every time they go outside (I have a fenced area for them so they have space to run) they just bark and bark if the neighbors or their dogs are out. If I call them to come in they just look at me and run. I have tried to get down and call them, no luck. if one finally goes in the other one goes. If they are out one at a time they are good its just when they are together they don't listen to anything. they will not be quiet no matter how much I try I say quiet then praise them and they start again or they just don't listen and keep barking and if I get close to them they run and run and run away from me. when i tell them to sit it last for 2 sec and then their gone i can't get them to stay.
I don't know if I should keep them separated, they have been together since birth, b/c if I try to walk one without the other the one that stays home cries and whines til I get back to take her. together is to hard b/c if they see another dog they jump all over each other and me and it is hard to control when they are over 60 lbs. each.

I try to be alpha but I just don't think it is working. I have read all the training info over and over. they have even been to basic training (I think they need military dogie camp) LOL. should I work with one at a time? should i ignore certain things? I am just so frustrated at this point with them. Any help would be greatly appreciated !!!!!!!!!

Hey thanks for your post, hopefully I can offer some guidance.

I would definately suggest going through all the alpha training with each dog individually, it is just too hard to work with two dogs at the same time and they will not focus enough. Hopefully if you consistently work with them one-on-one then you will see some improvement.

With regards to ignoring behaviour, do not ignore any behaviour that you think is unacceptable. You have the right to control their actions and you need to be clear with what is wrong and right. Every time they do something that is not acceptable then say "NO!" and try to correct their behaviour and if they listen praise them immediately. They will ventually learn right from wrong.

I would suggest when you let them outside that you either do it one at a time, or that you put them on long leads and can gain their attention by pulling on these leads if they get out of control. water pistols, and shaking cans full of rocks can also be used to get their attention. The most important thing to do with training dogs not to bark is to praise them when they stop to let them know that this is the behaviour you want.
