Lightbulb Chasing Pushbikes

Hi, I have two Jack Russell's who are generally pretty good. Both are nearly 4 but not from same litter. When we go for walks the 3 legged female (Inky) is very well behaved and friendly with everyone. Once we get to the park, I let them run free. Just recently the male (Axle) has just starting running up and barking at people and yesterday chased a kid on a pushbike. I don't want to have to keep Axle on the lead all the time as they absolutely love running free but this new problem with Axle is worrisome. I'm sure he wouldn't bite anyone but don't want to take any risks. I've thought about taking a water pistol with me but I'd need more of a rocket launcher to reach him than something that would sit in my pocket. Any ideas?

hi there,
good idea with the water pistol...but get a friend on a bike to do it to him....I did this with my dog chasing cars and bikes and it worked great.

Annie, thanks for that brilliant idea. I know just the person for that mission. Hopefully a quick cure will result. Thanks again.

another shock tactic ( if the water looses appeal) is a tin can with bottle tops or the like inside, and then seal it up with tape. It makes a good sharp noise to shock the dog. ( not to be thrown at the dog of course! )
Also, your dog may get used to the one 'victim' so have a couple of friends, and donīt forget that she may think about chasing prams or something else.
When you see a bike coming throw some balls or a stick....make it more exciting than chasing the bike...and remember to give her lots of exercise!
good luck,
Annie

...and chasing the bike is one thing, but if she starts to run up and bark at kids and people, you need to train her with treats from the strangers...not shock. You donīt want her thinking kids are scarey...
