I have a 3 yr old Shar Pei and he gets himself so worked up about going on his walks, its like its the first time he's ever been out every time we go out. I've tried waiting until he's calmed down but this waiting just seems to make things worse.
This excitedness leads him to lunging and barking at other dogs and makes me really worried about his health. The strange thing is that inside the house he is the calmest and most placid dog you could ever want. Help and advice would be much appreciated. |

Get him tired (not just calmed) before you take a walk; Try to get his attention by calling his name and reward for attention; Play tug-o-war, fetch, or anything else he loves to play with him; Get him out to an environment where the distractions are the lowest and work on obedience, attention games and more, raise the criteria slowly.
Hope I helped, Let us know how you're doing. |
