Unhappy Help! 2 yr old Pom is out of control!

I adopted a 2 year old male Pom in December. He was in the local animal shelter for over a month and no one claimed him, so I took him. I immediately had him neutered. He runs away every chance he gets, he straddles my cats and smaller pom and pees on them. He pees on my furniture and poops when I'm not looking. He barks at everything. I have him in training at PetsMart, it's helping him socialize, but isn't helping with any of the other behaviors.

My husband wants us to give him back, but I don't want to give up on him. He is a very lovey dog, I think he's just picked up some really, bad, habits. Please help!

Hi there,
your Pom sounds like he is a bit of a handful.
Most behavioral problems can be solved, it's just a matter of whether you are prepared to put in the hard work and time.

Does your dog live in your house or more outside? Where does he sleep?
How much do you know about his history?

You also have another Pom that you have had for a while or are they both new?
Does your dog know basic obedience, like "sit" and "stay"?
Is he alone during the day or do you spend a lot of time with him?

Please try to give us as much information as possible, that way it's easier to determine what steps to take to solve the problem.

Thanks
John
