Unhappy over-excitedness turns to aggression.

my 4 year old shih-tzu is normally pretty good. I just have one big problem with her. Every time there is someone at the door, she gets really excited, and runs to the door, barking, and jumping at it... waiting for the person to come in. I am scared that if she gets too excited, and the door opens, she will just run out . If you try to stop her from running to the door, she growls and attempts to bite (basically gets really aggressive) . She actually bit me once... but it didnt break skin.

so, if anyone has any advice, it will be appreciated.

thankyou.

Hi doglover, thanks for your post.
I would like to get a little more information from you if i could. First of all do you practice alpha-dog training with your dog? And secondly how do you react when your dog shows this behavior?

yes i do. And i'm pretty sure she identifies me as her alpha.

When she does this, I just get the leash, and pull her away from the door.
