Unhappy Problem with dog walking

I have a labbe (beagle/lab mix) who loves going for walks. Lately it has become increasingly difficult because he wants to lead. I pull him back repeatedly, but he still wants to take the lead. This in addition to him wanting to chase animals (mostly bunnies), has become hazardous. He'll try to take off and almost pull my shoulder out of socket.

Any suggests or advise.

hi ttbahr, and thanks for your post,
I was just wondering before we work out a full solution, whether you would consider using a head collar or whether you would rather use training alone?
