My husband and I took in two little Havanese from our neighbor. She rescued them from someone else. They are brother and sister about 3-4 years old. The first house that they came from, they were just left outside on the back deck the whole day. My neighbor took them in, and tried to find them a new home. Within this time, both my neighbor and I fell in love with these little dogs, and could not give them up, so we started to share them. Now they are pretty much with my husband and me now. Anyway, the problem I am having is with the little female. There are alot of dogs in the neighborhood, and we like to walk with them when they are out walking, but the little female sees another dog, and she starts pulling on the leash, and when she gets close she will go after them. I can get her to sit and stay, when we are close to them, and then I let the other dogs smell her and I keep her facing the other way, and then we try to walk together. She will walk by them, but she is still pullling on the leash to get after them. I want to be able to walk with the other dogs. Do you have any suggestions? Do I keep making her walk with them, so she knows that they are okay?

I think you're doing it right. Keep forcing her to walk nicely with the other dogs. Remember to praise her when she relaxes and slows her pulling. It takes lots of time to get dogs over those kinds of issues. Good luck and keep us posted on her progress!

I also read, that, I should make her head in the opposite direction when she starts pulling towards the other dogs. Is this a better way to go about this, or should I keep making her walk with the other dogs?
