Smile Lunging at dogs

We have two young labradors, 10 months and 8 months, and in most respects they are very well behaved. My problem is that when they are on the lead and meet other dogs they lunge to greet them. I would like to stop the lunging but not the socialising. Any suggestions please?

Hi, Libis.

Have you tried taking your dogs to obedience class? There, one of the things they are taught is to ignore other dogs. The instructor will help you teach them control. Then you can use these methods when out on walks. It doesn't stop them from socializing -- just controls when and how.
