Default biting dog

our dog is a happy friendly one, until he doesn't want to be touched, then he bites. He can be playing and happy then grab you. He is a 2 1/2 year old male (neutered) beagle/cocker spaniel mix. No one has had to have stitches yet but!!!

Default sudden biting

Hi dee,

Is this a recent development in behaviour? Does it relate to any specific body part being touched or petted? He might be sensitive/painful on some spot, and that could explain a sudden outburst of biting after being happy being petted.

Are there any warning signs, a chance in body positioning or stance, raising hair? Or does it actually come out of the blue?

How long has he been doing this sort of thing? Has anything unpleasant happened recently, a hit/accident/fall?
