Default An unsocialized puppy

I'm needing help with my 6 1/2 month old unsocialized dachshund mix puppy.
When I got Keira on 1/2/08, she was 12 weeks old. She had not had all of her shots at this time, so I was not able to walk her to get her socialized with the outside world. When I was able to start walking her, there was not may if any people out walking (it was quite cold outside). The last couple of days has been nice, so I have been taking her out for walks, but she barks uncontrollably at everyone that walks by her, and any dog that she sees. People look at her like she is vicious, but she really is not. I tell Keira to stop, tell her no!, try to make her sit, but nothing will stop her from barking her lungs out everyone and thing.

She has only been socialized with one other dog, a 2 year old male pompoo. She gets along with him very well. I was not able to socialize her with any of the other puppies/dogs that I know, because the puppies had Parvo and the adult dogs had been exposed to Parvo within the last few months. My Vet. said to keep Keira away from these other puppies/dogs for at least a couple of months after she got her last shots.

I know I missed the very important age span to get her socialized with many people and dogs. So now, how do I get this yippy yappy puppy to stop barking and settle down?

Hi there,

are there any puppy play schools in your area? It would definitely be a good idea to enroll her in one of those classes. That way she will play with dogs her age and learn what is acceptable and what is not.
