Unhappy Aggresive dog in flight mode

Hi, I have a Maltese X Shitzu 2 yrs old (rescue dog I have had for 4 weeks). When we walk she goes nuts at other dogs. I have trainer explaining the "look" command to me which she says will distract her before she sees another dog (with treats as well). The idea is that she will look at me and not another dog when we are out walking and that she will pass by without issue. My question is, is this really socializing her? She obviously has not been socialized at all and my walks are all about avoiding dogs at all costs until this command and her response is under control. Chasing cars and pulling on the lead is also prevelant. I am responding to this with a sharp jolt on the lead with the NO command. We also practice walking in the opposite direction and change direction to keep her from pulling me along. What do others think? Will she really get over this behaviour? Next training session is to be with another dog at a distance. (thanks)

Hi there neridapr, thank you for your post. I apologize for the very late reply, I am a new staff member and unfortunately during the gap in staff members many post were left unanswered and I am endeavoring to catch up with them all so that no one is left stranded.

I think the training you and your instructor were doing with the dog was definitely a step in the right direction. I was wondering if you could please give me an update on your dogs behaviour. Is there still a problem? If so has your dog made any progress? We apologize again for the delay. I will ensure that all further posts are responded to promptly so please don't hesitate to post with details on this or any other problem you and your dog may be having.
