Submissive Wetting

I have a 10 month old Great Dane female (spayed) who is very friendly and outgoing. We've been through three obediance classes and she's doing great with commands. She's very sweet but a bit wild. She's been exposed to alot of people and other pups but she still pees everywhere when someone approaches her in the house or outside. She reacts this way to me and my husband also. It seems that she doesn't react if you are the first person entering the home. I've asked two vets and two dog trainers and have been told that she may grow out of it but mainly to get used to it since she's almost a year old now. Help!

I have a rescued Cocker Spaniel. They are known for this issue and she came to me with it. I noticed that the main action that stars this peeing is when someone actually bends over her. It mainly happens when I come home, but can happen any time. I'm not sure she will ever come out of it, but she is MUCH better since I've done the following: When I come home, she is her most excited. I acknowledge her verbally, but do not touch her, do not bend over her to physically greet her in any way. I go on with what I am doing until she calms. Even once she is calm, though, I try to remember to not bend over her as that seems the most intimidating action for her. The instances of piddling have gone way down.. almost non -existent, except for when a visitor forgets my instructions... I think the best thing you can do for your dog is to give her as many positive, non threatening experiences where she does NOT piddle and that will give her the best chance of growing out of it.
