Intrinsic & Extrinsic Punishment

Hi, could someone out there please please help me with regards to studies I am undertaking and shed some light on the meaning of above. I have found some info on the net but need some more dog training examples to get my head around this. Your help in this matter would be greatly appreciated !!!!

From the limited information I could find on applying intrinsic and extrinsic motivation to dogs I have come up with this basic example.
Intrinsic motivation is enjoyment or interest in the task itself. While extrinsic moptivation is interest in the tasjk due to reward seeking or puinishment avoiding. For example if a dog fetches a stick he may be intrinsically motivated by the sheer enjoyment of the the task if he is a dog that finds this a fun game. Alternatively he may not be that interested in fetch but may be extrinsically motivated by the idea of a treat when he brings the stick back or by the knowledge that if he doesn't bring the stick back he will be punished by being ignored or told "no" etc.
