What do you do when it is raining to walk your dog? The guides say to walk your dog 1/2 hr - 1 hr every day. Does this hold when it is raining or should you just take him out for a few minutes because of the rain? In other words, can a dog get sick (catch a cold, etc.) from walking in the rain? I have walked mine in the rain and dried them off well when we came back, but is this wise?
Thanks!

I guarantee you that walking in the rain will not hurt your dog. If you have a small, fragile dog, you might want to buy a raincoat. Actually, I've bought raincoats for GSDs, so you don't have to limit the raincoat to the smaller dogs.
If your dog is not run down, he won't catch a cold. Neither will you -- unless you are run down. So feel free to walk him in the rain. Now, there are dogs that don't like walking in the rain. But that's another story. kjd |
