vmullica,

We try to do what is best for our dogs. Sometimes, however, we have to do what is best for ourselves. From your emails, Dante will have a good life whether you neuter him at 6 months, 12 months, or 19 months. YOU are the most important factor. If he is getting too rambunctious for you, and you think neutering will help, go for it!

OTOH, you might take him to puppy class and see if the trainer can help you control his high spirits. Whatever you decide, don't let yourself be caught in a guilt trip.

Your ability to control him and enjoy him is far more important than whether he has all his hormones or not. All things being equal, you'd neuter him at 12 months. But all things aren't equal and you feel neutering at 6 months is better for the household. So go for it!

In five years, you'll never know what Dante would have been like if you'd waited till he was 12 months old. If you neuter him at 12 months, in five years you'll never know what he would have been like if you'd neutered him at 6 months. But, I guarantee you, the chances are, whenever you neuter him, you are going to love the dog he is five years from now.
