Default cold weather

i have a 6 months old rottveiler. i am keeping him in the backyard during night times. of course he has a crate that he sleeps in during the night.
a friend of mine told me that it could be really cold for him during winter times.
average temperature during winter nights here is around 4-5 degrees (about 40-41 fehrenheit).
is this true? how this breed can reactes with cold weather? what should i do?
thanks

Hi there and thank you for your question.

Yes it is very important to keep your dog warm in the winter. A great way to do this is to carpet the inside of his kennel where he sleeps outside.
Blankets and wool rugs are also great.

Some people even give there dogs hot water bottles to sleep with on very cold nights. If you have a garage it would be a great idea to put your dog in there to stop them getting too cold.

Shelter is very important.

Good luck and let me know if you need anymore help.

Kind Regards
Todd Field
