Hi Alpha dog, I have a friend with a first puppy and have reccomended she get into Sitstayfetch. She is in Australia, do you have a special site for southies ( I'm in germany) or is it all the same site? thanks,
Annie
1. We have a 6 months old black Labrador who is progressing well with his training due to the tips given in your excellent book. he is generally obeying commands except that he is still nipping/ chewing my ankle/heel /other items. he has also not stopped jumping on me despite trying all the tips given in your book. Since he is growing stronger with age, I am worried that this problem must be resolved earliest.
2. He is generally not kept separated, is not always on leash and I have been keeping dogs for long time. However, my dear 'BOEING' is not improving his behaviour.
3. I request you to give a miraculous tip.
thanks and regards

Hello
This is my first time on this forum so I'm not sure what I'm doing. We adopted a Great Pyrenees about 6 weeks ago. He is a 2 year old male that was never house broken. He was doing pretty well in the beginning but lately he has been coming in from walks & going to the bathroom in the house. He sneaks off so we don't always catch him in the act. I don't understand why he has started doing this. Please help. Thanks. Susan Riendeau
I posted this yesterday but have not received a response. I really hope you can help as I don't know what to do.
My husband and I just added a 1 1/2 year old (husky mix?) to our family.
He was trained as a racing sled dog so he spent all his time outside chained to his doghouse amid 30 +/- other dogs or in harness. He was too timid to be a good racer so the owners gave him to a rescue. The woman (trained?) him using a prong collar an electric collar for about 1 month. Now I have him and once he learned he didn't have the electric collar he will not come when called. This is a real problem when we turn him and our 1 1/2 year old female alaskan husky out in the dog run. Also when in the house he either hides under the desk or in his kennel, only coming out to let us know he wants outside.
Can you give me any ideas how to proceed with socializing and training him?
PS. He will not accept any treats and he barely tolerates petting while shivering violently.
I have an 11 month old retriever mix dog I rescued when he was a puppy. I definitely have issues with alpha dog with him. He barks back when we're in the back yard. He's like a toddler having a temper tantrum and will bark at me to get him to chase him or pay attention. If I ignore him he nips at my clothes. I tell him to sit but it takes several times of telling him. It's the most frustrating thing because I can't have a conversation with my neighbor without him barking at me.
Hi this is my first time doing this so i am not sure how it all works. We found our dog on the side of the road near a reservation. He was about 4 months old, we think. It has now been 6 months since we have had him. He is wonderful with people and all the dogs we socialized him with when he was a puppy but just recently he has become aggressive or territoral when meeting strange dogs. I am not quiet sure what to do because we did socialize him but now he is not nice to other dogs he doesnt know. So guess my question is how do we socialize him but make sure he is acting the right way?
